Arrival & directions

The Heidi Alm Falkert is located in the Nockberge region (Carinthia - Austria) between the two larger towns of Bad Kleinkirchheim (approx. 12km) and the Turracher Höhe at 1700 - 2300 metres above sea level.
A new road built in 2001 takes you from the valley (between Wiedweg and the Reichenau plain at 1000m above sea level) up to the village of Falkertsee at 1900m. Due to the altitude, snow chains are recommended for safety throughout the winter and in November and May.

By car

From the north (D/CH and western Austria): Take the A 10 Tauern motorway to the Spittal / Millstätter See exit (note that the exit is on the left-hand side of the motorway) - Seeboden - Döbriach - Radenthein - Bad Kleinkirchheim - Wiedweg - Patergassen - towards Ebene Reichenau - turn off to Falkertsee on the left-hand side up the mountain (Heidi figure and flags on the left-hand side) - you won't miss us at the end of the mountain road!
Coming from the east, we recommend taking the south motorway or driving via Judenburg, Murau and over the Turracher Höhe.

Attention with sat navs:

Be sure to check the route suggested by your sat nav before you set off. Routes are often calculated that take you over passes such as Obertauern or the Katschberg.
This is not recommended in winter. The Nockalm road is also often included in the journey route. However, this is a panoramic toll road that is closed in winter!

By aeroplane

The cheapest and most convenient way to get here from the Cologne/Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg and London area is with the "budget airlines" Germanwings, Rynair and Condor.
Austrian and Germanwings also offer a number of connecting flights via Vienna and Cologne/Bonn.

The journey from Klagenfurt takes about an hour. The hotels offer airport transfers for their guests. Cheap hire cars are available for the holiday homes.

Other airports: Ljubljana approx. 1.5 hours, Salzburg approx. 2 hours, Graz approx. 2 hours.
